Boston Obliteration Bombing

I’m discussing obliteration bombing, the Nuremberg trials and the definition of law and its intersection with morals in my Jurisprudence class on Monday. I created a map of Boston based on John C. Ford’s application of U.S. obliteration bombing criteria employed during the Tokyo of 1945 to Boston in The Morality of Obliteration Bombing. Ford theorized what parts of Boston would be targeted in an obliteration bombing campaign.

Obliteration bombing was designed to target workers and their support systems.

Hartford 2, Jason 0

Hartford is proving a challenge. I have been searching for a place to live in the Hartford area four days a week (spending the balance in Boston). It seems impossible to find a decent place that isn’t dangerous and that is convenient to the medical center. I am so far also underwhelmed by the “bustling and modern West Hartford area”.

I’ve been searching West Hartford, West End of Hartford, New Britain, Farmington, Plainville, and downtown Hartford. Actively considering Northampton.

Vidal in NY Times

  • NYTimes: Are you a supporter of gay marriage?
  • Vidal: I know nothing about it. I don't follow that.
  • NYTimes: Why doesn't it interest you?
  • Vidal: The same reason heterosexual marriage doesn't seem to interest me.

bar conversations

  • Him: My personality is more like a Richter painting.
  • Me: I see that. I'm probably more a Rothko.
  • Him: De Kooning.
  • Me: What?
  • Him: You are a De Kooning painting. Definitely not a Rothko.
  • Me: No. I am definitely not a De Kooning.
  • Him: That you see yourself as a Rothko and are really a De Kooning is why you are amazed by people's reactions to you.
  • Me: Oh. You're right.
